Protector Ch. 3 “More Obstacles?”
By Saendie
*********
Didn’t think there was a chapter 3? Neither did I! Surprise! Happy Birthday To Me, 23!
Rating has changed to NC-17 as I’ve gotten crueler to Ryou. In other words, if you’re not of mature mind and body you shouldn’t be reading this. No flames allowed from homophobes just because it’s a guy-guy pairing. Get over it. Non-consensual. If you don’t know what that means then you shouldn’t be reading this either! OOC as I know the Millennium Ring can be a mean SOB but I doubt he actually does rape him, just beats him within an inch of his life.
I don’t own Yugioh or any of the actual characters from the show, that’s a duh issue…however…I know a lot of you really like my stuff, but from now on if you use any of my stories or ideas (in part or whole) without credit or permission, I will thrash you big time!
This story uses some collaborating ideas with Masaki Uke aka Demon_Game.
No sir, we have no Mary Sues.

Ryou stared up at the school clock, watching the hands slowly move. Time was too slow. Each minute was another spent in the slavery of his yami. Other students streamed around him, some giving him adoring looks. He shied away from them, lowering his gaze before ducking into the school. He managed to make it to his locker before being cornered by a young girl. She was a little shorter than him, with large blue eyes.
“Hello Bakura-kun! I was wondering…”
Ryou paled at hearing those opening words and stopped her. “I-I’m sorry…no.” Every girl that has ever tried to even be his friend had ended up ‘disappearing’. Only Anzu and Miho seemed to escape such fates as they were under the Millennium Puzzle’s protection.
The look in the girl’s eyes were almost enough to break Ryou’s heart. She seemed to really like him and his abrupt rejection hurt. Ryou sighed softly and spoke gently to her. “It’s for your own protection…please, just go.”
“But the dance this weekend--” She was cut off by Ryou suddenly running down the hall.
He didn’t want to hear it. Another invitation, another opening, another person willing to give their heart to him. Couldn’t they see that it was dangerous to be near him?
Finally getting to the classroom, Ryou went right to his seat and sat down, then noticed the talking going on around him. “What’s going on?”
Yugi walked up to him with a sad look on his face. “Miho-chan is transferring to a different school.”
“Really? That’s odd. I thought she liked it here.” Ryou’s gaze traveled over to the violet-haired girl who was sitting with other female classmates. “What about Honda-san?”
Yugi shrugged a little. “I don’t know, he didn’t come to school today. Maybe we should all go visit him after classes.”
“Good idea. He must be crushed. He liked Miho-san a lot. When does she transfer?”
Yugi sighed softly. “Today’s her last day. She’ll be moving and going to a school in Shinjuku.”
“That’s really far from Domino. So odd for her to move suddenly.” Ryou thought about it. “Very odd.”
“Un. But let’s be supportive of her!” Yugi smiled.
“Yes. I’m sure she’ll find lots of great friends there too.” Ryou nodded and turned his attention to the front of the class as the teacher came in and started the day’s lecture.
During lunch Jounochi came up to Ryou’s desk with that grin on his face that he always had. “Hey Ryou!”
“Hello Jounochi-kun.”
“Um..want to proof read my essay for me?”
Ryou smiled. Finally, something that won’t get him in trouble. “Sure.” He took the tattered notebook from the other student and looked it over. “How to spot a Mary Sue?”
“Yeah. The evil.”
Ryou sweatdropped and started reading. “A Mary Sue is the lowest form of original character ever created. Mary Sue was originally a Star Trek fan character gone horribly wrong. There are many Mary Sues out there, at least one in every story type ever written. They are mainly found in fanfiction where they breed like rabbits. A Mary Sue is easily identified as being female. The rare Marty Sams, the male versions, are often not found in any fanfiction that has bishonen in it. Bishonen are known as pretty boys; any male characters that are of any beauty or possessing feminine qualities. Mary Sues normally have several things in common. They are usually the most descriptive character in the story. An entire paragraph is devoted to describing exactly what the Mary Sue looks like. The Mary Sue is from one extreme or the other when it comes to cooking. She can either be the most excellent cook the characters have ever had or the worst and clumsiest. Either way she is considered cute and lovable. The Mary Sue’s main goal is to get with one or more of the title characters. She can either be dropped into their world or just somehow magically appear there. This character normally lives alone and has a horrible tragic past or some kind of traumatic event that haunts them constantly. Of course, this requires the Mary Sue to faint often. This girl is usually frail, waifs, delicate, and of course very attractive. Sometimes she acquires a power similar to the main characters, but doesn’t know how to use it. At least once in the story this girl must be saved from the bad guy. Following that thread the main characters must save her as she is so important. By then the Mary Sue has normally been harmed in some way. From there she will realize that she is more powerful than any of them at all and so will save them when they get in trouble. Character falls in love with Mary Sue, and they live happily ever after. The Mary Sue is the root of evil and must be destroyed. It cheapens fanfiction, makes the characters of the show seem like dweebs and easily swayed by a pretty face. What is the point of writing such a character? It’s clearly just the raving fan girls playing out a fantasy…” Ryou finally stopped reading and looked at Jounochi. “Evil hm?”
“Oh yeah.” Jounochi nodded, pleased with himself. “Don’t want to finish it?”
“Jounochi-kun, I highly doubt this will work with our topic being ‘How To Make The World A Better Place’.”
“I think it’ll make the world a better place if we got rid of the Mary Sue!”
“You are odd.” Ryou handed it back to him.
“Hmm….yeah, maybe I’ll change it and save this for ‘How To Spot Evil’.”
Ryou rolled his eyes and smiled, charmed by Jounochi’s antics. “Silly.” He pushed back his chair and ventured over to where Miho was and gave her a polite bow. “I’ll miss you, Miho-san, you were always the happiest of us.”
Miho looked at him for a long moment, then a small smile crept to her features. “Thank you, Bakura-kun. I hope you find your happiness.”
That surprised Ryou, leaving him a little speechless as she turned away from him to continue chatting with her other girl friends. Ryou left her alone, venturing back to his seat as his mind worked to try to understand her odd words towards him. Then again, Miho was always a bit of a puzzle herself.
After class everyone wished Miho good luck and saw her out, Anzu deciding to escort her home. “So you’re really moving…what did Honda say?” Anzu asked her friend.
“Oh…some things. This and that. You know how Honda-kun is.”
“But he didn’t come to class. I thought for sure he would be at your side begging and pleading.” Anzu smirked, used to Honda’s over-reactions to just about everything.
“He would be…but…I dumped him.”
***********
“EH!?” Yugi, Jounochi, and Ryou all stared at Honda from where they were seated with him in his room. “Miho dumped you!?”
Honda nodded, then ran his fingers through his brown hair. “It’s true.”
“So that’s why you didn’t show up…I’m sorry Honda.” Jounochi patted his shoulder. “Maybe she did it because she’s moving and a long distance relationship never works.”
Honda shook his head and sighed. “No…no…but there’s nothing I can do right now. I can only hope she is happy at her new home and school.”
“That’s a very mature attitude, Honda.” Jounochi nodded, then put him in a headlock. “You should go begging for her back! You love her, right? Go after her! Always go after the one you love!”
Honda gagged and wrestled back with Jounochi. “Baka, I don’t love her!”
They all blinked. “You don’t?”
“No…but she is a very dear person to me.”
“We wish you all the best, Honda.” Yugi smiled. “Life goes on. Will you be at school tomorrow.”
“Of course!” Honda finally caught Jounochi in a pin. “Ha! The great Hitori Honda must catch up on his studies!”
Yugi sweatdropped. Oh yeah, he was back to normal. “So you’ll be okay?”
“I’ll be alright, thanks for your concern guys.”
Jounochi chuckled. “Any time Honda. We’ll see you at school.”
“Aa.”
***********
The next day Yugi was sitting with his friends around a table outside for lunch as it was a nice day out and not raining for once during this winter time. He was busy laughing and discussing card strategies of Duel Monsters with Jounochi when Honda suddenly stood up and climbed onto the top of a small cement divider. “Everyone! Your attention please!”
The outside students glanced at him, curious. The news of Honda’s breakup with Miho had spread already, so they were expecting him to elaborate more on that. The gossip mongers and student media club converged around the class president. Jounochi glanced over his shoulder at Honda and smirked. “This ought to be good. Bet he’ll make a fool of himself.”
Honda either didn’t hear him or ignored him. “My fellow students, as you know there was an unfortunate occurrence between me and Miho-san, a former student. She is sadly no longer a part of our great and glorious school. But fear not, I will still be in attendance with a partner for the school dance at the end of the week.” The other students watched him, curious. “Ryou Bakura, will you go with me?”
Ryou could have sworn time had just stood still. Frozen for a moment, then suddenly started back up again as he dropped the chopsticks he was holding to use for eating his lunch.
Jounochi’s reaction was more swift than Ryou’s as he stood up, shouting just as loud as Honda. “No way, Ryou’s mine!”
Ryou now was sure to lose his lunch. “W-What…”
“Jounochi! I asked him first!”
“Ryou’s always been mine!”
With those last few sentences the gossipers were quick to work, making the news spread through the school like wildfire as everyone suddenly started talking and most looked at Ryou.
Anzu grabbed Yugi’s school blazer, turning him to look at her. “Yugi, please tell me you’re not gay!”
Yugi looked a little bewildered, still shocked over the sudden confessions that just happened. “Does Yami count?”
Anzu’s face fell as she slumped down into her seat. “Why are all the cute ones gay!?”
Jounochi huffed at her. “What are you, a Mary Sue?”
“JOUNOCHI!”
Honda jumped down and went over to their table. “Well Ryou?”
“W-W-What about Miho-san…?”
“This is the reason we broke up. I revealed to her my feelings and she said it was best for me to be happy with someone that could understand and return my feelings. She is such a kind girl.” Honda explained.
“You can’t just decide you’re gay, it’s not a light switch. Straight. Gay. You can’t flip back and forth!” Jounochi accused.”
“Who says I wasn’t always gay and just in denial?”
“Whatever. Ryou’s already mine.”
Ryou couldn’t handle this. He grabbed his school bag next to his chair and ran from the crowd and out through the school gates, not caring where he was going, just running. Jounochi…and Honda…confessing before the entire school like it was normal!
/Aren’t you the playboy!/ The Millennium Ring’s laughter echoed through his mind, causing Ryou to wince. /Oh the scandal. The punk and the cleaner fighting over you. How interesting. You truly must love sleeping around./
/No! Please, no taunts today!/
/You so deserve it though. Yes, I’ll show you just what a whore like you is good for!/
Ryou paled, slowly to a stop and opening his blazer to see the Ring resting against his shirt. /What are you talking about?/
/You’ll see./ The Millennium Ring glowed and took over the body, shoving Ryou into his soul room and sealing it shut for now. “I’ll make sure you get the reputation you deserve.” He turned and headed towards another part of the city, catching a train to the western end, a good hour’s trip. When he arrived he walked the rest of the way. Yami Malik had mentioned this place once and it had sparked the Millennium Ring’s curiosity. Taking a turn down a dank alley the Ring knocked at an unmarked door.
“What?” A gruff voice answered from the other side.
“Just a little schoolboy looking for a good time.”
A moment later the door swung open and let him enter. “A good time? With those looks, you shouldn’t have a problem.” The man chuckled, leading him inside to the main room. “What’s your specialty?”
“The cute and innocent don’t-hurt-me type.” The Ring responded with a grin. “I’m very convincing.”
“We’ll see.”
“I want one of your roughest clients. I’m in sore need of some punishment.” Yami Bakura struck a pose.
The man laughed and pointed to a door. “You impress him and I might consider paying you for your services.”
“I don’t need pay.” Yami Bakura walked over to the door and let himself in, closing and locking the door behind him. “Hello.”
A tall Asian man was lounging on a comfortable bed and smiled when he saw him. “You’re new.”
“Yes, I’m here as your little toy for the night.” Yami Bakura walked up to the side of the bed, looking down at the man. “You like innocent?”
“Yeah, but you don’t seem very innocent.” He eyed him. “Beautiful, but not innocent.”
“Oh I will be. Just be sure to punish me dearly.” The Ring grinned and closed his eyes, unsealing the block on Ryou’s soul room and letting him resume control of the body.
Ryou reopened his eyes, the leaf-green orbs looking around the room before settling on the man before him. “How did I get here… Who are you?”
“Even made your voice softer. Very nice. Come here.” He reached for him, making Ryou back away.
“Excuse me? I have to be going now!” Ryou turned to go back towards the door when he felt a tight grip settle on his wrist and yank him back onto the bed and drop his school case. “What are you doing!?” Ryou demanded, a bit of panic in his voice.
The stranger pulled Ryou under him. “Lovely.” His fingers moved through the white hair, gripping it tightly before pulling, making Ryou expose his throat. He licked the soft skin, then bit him several times. “I will enjoy this.”
Ryou struggled against him, trying to push him off. “Please…stop this…”
“You do play the innocent well too.” He released his hair before pulling at Ryou’s clothing, struggling to get them off the fighting boy. The man finally struck him hard, stunning Ryou enough to let him finish undressing him. “You must be a very bad boy…so many injuries. I’ll just have to add more.”
Ryou cried out for help in a vain attempt as the man forced his legs apart. He could only scream when he felt the intrusion enter his tense body, tearing through tissues and making the passage slick with blood. Ryou struggled, hands pinned above his head as the man took him. He was much bigger than what Ryou was used to, not even caring about Ryou’s pain. The white-haired teenager now understand what the Ring meant. He was going to make his reputation as a whore and playboy. He wanted to die.
The rape lasted for too long. Ryou lost track of time as the man took him numerous times and others joined in, taking turns like he was a doll. The only time he knew it was over was when the Ring regained control of the body again.
Between that time and when he got back home Ryou was in shock, laying in his darkened soul room, wondering why this had happened. /Do you hate me?/
The Millennium Ring huffed and tossed Ryou’s school bag in the corner of the bedroom. /You are my slave. To do whatever I please with./ The Ring forced Ryou to split off from him and shoved him hard against the wall. “Understand this, you are not Honda’s. You are not Jounochi’s. You are to never be with anyone other than the ones I choose or when I take you.”
Ryou was too full of fear to argue and just nodded. “Yes master…”
“Good.” He shoved Ryou face down on his bed, a hand keeping his head down as he raped him, himself. “Tonight is your first lesson. Any more and I’ll make it much worse!” He slammed hard into Ryou’s abused body, making the body under him shake from pain and sob loudly into the comforter. The rapes that occurred during the day left Ryou’s lower body bloody and coated with seed. When the Millennium Ring finished he pulled out and proceeded to beat Ryou. “I think I’ve made my point clear to you now.”
Ryou nodded weakly, feeling his other return to the Item before he mustered up the strength to move to the bathroom and wash. He never heard the phone’s ringing over the loud roar of the shower.
Jounochi sighed and hung up the phone again before returning to where Yami was seated before the television with the video game waiting. “He’s still not answering.”
“I wouldn’t answer either. I’d be mortified.” Yami commented. “You sure embarrassed him at school.”
“I can’t believe Honda would do that…”
“You didn’t exactly proclaim your love in public until today.”
“Well I had to! I can’t let Honda take him from me!”
“He’s not yours, Jounochi.” Yami replied and proceeded to beat him at the game. “I win.”
Jounochi sighed and flopped onto his back. “I will win…I just have to get him to go to the dance with me.”
Yami turned off the game and faced him. “What’s so important about this dance, anyway?”
Jounochi stared at him in disbelief. “You don’t know what Valentine’s Day is?”
“….no, should I?”
“It’s the day of love. You give the person you like chocolate and hopefully they will become your sweetheart…it’s supposed to be romantic.”
“You’re not exactly romantic, Jounochi.”
“I know, but I will learn. I have a week to win.” He pulled out a tattered photo of Ryou and smiled. “I’ll win because I love him.”
