~*~ Part 1 ~*~

“Don’t be late,” said the voice on the other end, Tohru listened carefully so as to not miss something and be disrespectful.

“Hai!” she said quickly, and the line went dead. She swallowed hard and let out a sigh of relief when she placed the phone on the hook again, a wave of nervousness washing over her. It had been Akito on the phone just now, he had called to ask her to come by so they could get properly acquainted with each other. Tohru thought back to the incident at school when Yuki had looked so nervous while Akito spoke of something to him. She had pushed him with all her might, not even realizing how rude it was of her to do that. Now in the hallway of Shigure’s house, she sighed softly and put a hand up to her throat. Her skin felt warm, it was probably because she was so nervous. Nonetheless, he had said explicitly, not to be late so she would have to hurry.

After getting dressed quickly, she gathered her purse and started to put on her shoes, when she thought of something. She ran to the kitchen and almost slid across the newly polished floor before regaining her balance. She had to find a pen and paper. Scanning the numerous drawers full of kitchen things, at last she came up with what she was looking for. Hurriedly Tohru wrote a note to Shigure, who was out visiting his editor to talk about a new book deal, but he would probably get home before the others.

1 *Gone out to visit Uo-chan and Hana-chan,

2 be home later,

3 Tohru.*

She figured it would be less alarming to write something like that, since for some reason, Yuki and Shigure did not think it was such a great idea for her to be hanging around the Main House much.

“Ok,” said Tohru to herself as she posted the note on the fridge with a small Hello Kitty magnet, “they are sure to see it there,” she muttered under her breath. Quickly she glanced at her watch, it was 10:30 am, she had at least a half hours worth of walking so she better get going.

Half an hour and one blister later, Tohru was sitting in the living room of Akito’s house. She had stupidly taken her new shoes, that she’d not yet broken in, so her feet ached so bad and she had a nasty blister. She wondered how she would get home in that state, maybe she could borrow some slippers. Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a hand on her shoulder, she quickly glanced up and her eyes met with Akito’s. Tohru felt an icy chill run down her spine at that moment, like someone had just poured a bucket of ice cubes down her shirt.

“A…Akito-san,” Tohru said bewildered.

“Honda Tohru-san,” he said with a slight bow as he put his hands together in front of him. She dashed to get up from the couch, nearly forgetting her manners, as she returned his bow, although hers was slightly deeper.

“Come to my room,” Akito said with a smile playing on his lips. Tohru nodded and gathered her purse from the couch before following a few steps behind. He was wearing a long and elaborate house robe, something that Shigure might wear when important guests were over, which was nearly never these days. It was a shame because she thought he looked really great in it. Her thoughts came to a halt as Akito slid open a door before them, revealing a large room. Her eyes darted in every direction, taking in the splendid elegance of the decorations. There were two statues of fat, round Buddhas next to an ornately bejeweled fireplace, is if to guard its heat in cold winter months. In front of the fireplace had been placed a beautiful Persian rug depicting an attractive pattern that was so adequately woven together.

“Come in,” Akito gestured while walking to the opposite side of his room, where the floor was elevated about two feet from the ground and a thick futon sprawled on the platform. There were two steps leading up to it, and a thick black rug had been placed down those steps invitingly.

Tohru’s eyes widened in delight as she took in all of these striking details about the room. It looked like something from a storybook, a room fit for a prince.

“You like it?” Akito said, fetching her back to reality, his voice was so soft and low, almost lulling her mind.

“Hai…,” she smiled to him.

“Please sit,” he bent forward and took her hand, which astonished the poor girl who was mesmerized by all she was seeing. He walked carefully over to the platform bed and up the steps as he took a seat on it, expecting her to do the same. She let him guide her movements, entranced by the rich smell of summer flowers that was pouring through the opened windows and large sliding door that led to what seemed like an outside garden. The cool breeze was blowing softly on her skin, and she was glad for it, because it was a slightly hot day.

“Ne Tohru-kun, do you like living in Shigure’s house…” Akito said with a startling informality that even Tohru became suspicious of. Only Momiji spoke to her like and sometimes Shigure when he wanted her to fix him a late night snack. She smiled nonetheless and looked away to the window as she responded.

“Ahh, I do Akito-san,” she spoke slow and her chose her words warily so as to not disrespect him any way, “Shigure-san, Yuki-kun and Kyou-kun have all been so kind to me. But, I…must thank Akito-san as well…” Tohru said looking up and feeling slightly feverish. He gazed at her inquisitively, which only made her more nervous.

“What do you mean?” he pressed his lips together and looked at her closer.

“It’s just that….Akito-san has been very thoughtful to let me stay when I had no place to go,” she said tensely, his eyes fastened onto her mouth while the words shaped on her lips. “Akito-san is the real reason why I am so happy now,” she realized the thought was true, as she spoke it, surprising herself and him also it seemed. She smiled slowly and her cheeks flushed as she looked down at the space between them. Noticing for the first time, the intricate design of the coverlet on the futon. She traced her fingers absently over the rivulets and curves of the material, silently hoping she had not upset him with her hurried statement. Her mind must have drifted while she was touching the fabric because she felt a soft touch on her hand unexpectedly. Her eyes watched Akito’s slender fingers inch forward, while her breathing grew more hasty. Soon, he had covered her hand with his and was moving his fingers against it, in a slow massage.

“Can I ask you a favor,” Akito said softly so as to not disturb the moment. Tohru only nodded, afraid that her voice would fail her if she tried to speak.

“I was wondering if Tohru-kun would mind spending the afternoon with me…” his voice traveled over the breeze delicately, while his fingers squeezed her small hand. Tohru shook her head in a daze, too comfortable to speak, the sweet smell of summer enveloping her like a dream.

Her eyes edged up unhurriedly from his fingers up to strikingly wine- colored fabric of his kimono, the sleeves edged in creamy white, creating a yielding contrast between his own pale skin and that of the material. Her gaze encompassed his middle and fixated on the sash that held his robes together, it was the same buttery color like the edge of his sleeve. His chest was slightly bare, and as he sat the kimono lay slightly open, showing a cruel suggestion of his smooth skin beneath. Tohru’s inquisitive glance slinked up to his neck and face, that were a little blurry because the sun was glinting behind him. His hair was blowing in the breeze, the straight black locks moving softly with the current, while his black eyes studied her expression.

“A...Akito-san,” Tohru’s lips formed the word slowly but as soon as she had finished speaking it, Akito had bent forward and dipped his head to kiss her. Soft lips brushed her mouth, in a slow languid movement that soon grew slightly desperate as she felt a hand on the back of her neck, pulling her forward. She gave in completely, closing her eyes while her hands clasped together in front of her. The kiss intensified, something slithered into Tohru’s mouth that felt warm and wet, sliding against her lips and tongue in a ravenous technique.

Tohru’s mind felt drugged, but she put her hands up against Akito’s chest in protest, trying to push him away. It felt useless though, his grip was too sturdy, she pushed with all her might and the kiss broke abruptly, Akito’s face upturned and so close to hers.

“I thought you wanted to thank me,” he grinned and landed another hungry kiss on the edge of her mouth.

“Not like this!” Tohru found herself yelling but soon another kiss followed, the hand on the back of her head not relenting.

“Please….” She gasped shoving him away again, growing angry.

“I thought you’d never ask,” Akito grinned and she felt his weight slowly descend on her, a sturdy arm lifting her around the middle and laying her backward on the futon while his other arm was outstretched and steadied them both on the bed.

“So what did you tell the others you were going to be doing?” Akito grinned as he towered over an alarmed Tohru. She refused to answer him and thought back to the note she’d written to Shigure earlier, no one was going to look for her until late into the night. Her eyes grew wet with tears as she realized this, the situation sinking in the for the first time since she’d arrived. Akito bent down over her face and Tohru turned away, but his hand gripped her chin and made her look up at him. His tongue darted out over her mouth and swept across her lips in a slow stride before covering it with an eager kiss.

“Tohru, if you don’t do what I say, I won’t let you stay anymore,” Akito warned suddenly, whispering against her ear. The warmth of his breath tickling her neck.

“But Akito-san….I want to stay,” she began to sob close to his ear, an arm wrapping slowly around his back.

He only responded with a grunt and moved back from her as he sat on his side. She looked up at the ceiling and wondered if she could make a dash for the door, and run back to Shigure’s house. Then another thought came to her….doing something like that would not accomplish anything, Akito would order Shigure to kick her out and he would have to obey. She sighed and realized there was no way out of this.

“What do I do?” she blinked back the tears and sniffled.

“Heh,” he grunted again and turned to face her, “sit up,” she did as he said, “on your knees,” he added finally with a smirk. She slowly got to her knees and looked down at him, before settling her weight on her feet in a squat.
