"...if you want me to finish this, get your damn head off my lap unless
you want this pen shoved up your ass Shuuichi...", growled the novelist
as he continued to scribble down some notes.
The teen knelt on the floor beside him happily watching him write,
toyed idly with the zip at the front of his jeans, pulling it down then
back up, down then back up, down and--Thwap!
"...cut it out...", snarled Yuki softly, removing his glasses a moment
to rub his eyes.
He had come to the conclusion that trying to write a song at four in
the morning with a painfully cute boyfriend tugging at your pants was
not fun at all- you couldn't do both at the same time.
Shuuichi whined softly at the light hit, he'd been watching the man at
work for hours now, contently. He couldn't understand how writing a
song could take so long for someone as skilled at Yuki Eiri.
He sighed, the lingering thought that he would have to put music to
whatever Yuki wrote for him at the back of his mind.
He also bared in mind that if Yuki had proposed a challenge it meant
that he would almost certainly make it hard on the singer.
Shuuichi brought his shiny violet gaze up toward his lover's face,
staring at him with an adoring vision as he slipped his arms around his
middle and nuzzled his face against his taut stomach.
Yuki said nothing, simply eyeing the scribbled mass of note form kanji,
hiragana, katakana and English script on his sheet, none of it making
any sense to the teen nestled against him at all.
He tapped the end of his pen lightly against the page a few times, as if
working with the rhythm he had woven into the words to ensure it would
all work to perfection.
"Ne...Yuki...", muttered Shuuichi softly as he lidded his eyes a moment.
"Shh...", came the return, the pen sharply tapping the end of the boy's
nose "...I've told you already, how do you expect me to write when you
insist on disturbing me?"
Shuuichi sighed, pulling himself carefully onto the couch and curling
up, his head resting on the blond writer's thigh as he continued to
scribble.
His eyes trailed slowly over the other's form, bathed in a gentle glow
from a small lamp beside him.
Apart from that one light source, the whole apartment was in an
affectionate encirclement of darkness and Shuuichi felt very glad to
be cradled within the warmth of warm golden gleam of the light beside
Yuki.
At that moment, he decided, Yuki looked radiant. More so than usual
in Shuuichi's mind.
The light kissed his handsome features to perfection, bringing out
the golden glints in his eyes, shimmering in and out of his hair and
the shadows they cast like a breath of molten sunlight, a glorious
golden outline moving over his chest and collecting together in the
creases of his shirt and a clear pool of liquid light glittering on
the sheet he was carefully writing on.
Every now and then he would move his head slightly making his golden
tresses sway as if caught on some hypnotic fair breeze and merging the
fluid shadows and light together a moment like a disturbed rock pool
of gold before settling down again.
Shuuichi watched as the vision almost clouded his eyes, from time to
time the silver edges of Yuki's glasses would wink a bright luminosity
toward him for a half second as if making sure he was still awake before
calming again and just seeming to be gently highlighted.
"...what are you thinking...?", asked Yuki without moving his eyes from
the sheet of paper.
Shuuichi blinked, half dazed as if trying to free himself from the
hypnotic trace that the un-known ocean-like motions Yuki had displayed
had put him under.
"...that I want you right now...", he mumbled as his reply, un-sure
if he had spoken thoughts aloud of note.
Yuki directed a small smirk toward the dreamy eyed teen beside him,
slipping an arm round his shoulders gently and pulling him closer.
Shuuichi's eyes seemed to light up at the affectionate action.
It wasn't so rare now for Yuki to display his feelings like this,
but never the less, Shuuichi couldn't help but feel warm and tingly
whenever Yuki did show it openly.
"...I've turned you into a nymphomaniac...", he grumbled softly,
lightly rubbing the boy's stomach with his fingers.
Shuuichi purred softly, a kittenish expression appearing on his
already cute and child-like face before Yuki stood up slowly and moved
his shoulders back with a few dull cracking sounds.
"...maybe you should go to bed, Shuuichi...", suggested Yuki lightly,
padding toward the kitchen and flicking the kettle on to make some
coffee.
Shuuichi pouted and folded his arms like a stubborn child as he
remained where he was on the couch.
"I'm not going alone!", he stated as Yuki returned with two mugs of
hot coffee, handing one to Shuuichi and taking a sip of his own.
"...you're annoying...I can't write with you playing around like
this..."
Shuuichi blew the surface of the hot liquid a moment before taking a
sip.
"So finish it now so I can put some music to it", he smirked "Then we
can go and have--ITAI!"
Yuki growled, he was finding that lightly hitting Shuuichi with the pen
would soon return in the small writing tool to become broken.
---
After a little while Yuki finally handed Shuuichi a sheet of finished
paper, the lyrics written out carefully in such a way it all made sense
and was fairly easy to put music to but not overly so.
Shuuichi grinned and bounced up, giving Yuki a peck on the cheek and
stating he was going to Hiro's to work on the music.
Yuki couldn't help but pity Shuuichi's poor friend being woken at five
fifteen in the morning.
As the door clicked shut, Yuki slumped into a chair and closed his
eyes.
It had been hard enough to write something for the insanely active
Sakuma Ryuuichi, let alone trying to write for Shuuichi.
He clicked his lighter open and ran the flame over his cigarette,
drawing in a long breath before sitting up sharply at the noise of the
phone.
He knew of only one person, aside Shuuichi, who had the persistence or
intuition to call him at this time.
He stood up slowly, slipping toward the phone and lifting it to his
ear.
"...hello Touma...", he sighed, rubbing his eyes a little.
"Gomen nasai, Eiri-san. How could you tell it was me?", chuckled the
voice on the other end light-heartedly.
"...because you're insane enough to do so...", grumbled the writer.
"Oh, now that hurts my feelings...", smirked Touma sarcastically "How's
the new work going?"
Yuki leant his back against the wall gently, folding his arms and
removing his cigarette from his mouth.
"...just finished...he's gone to Nakano-kun's to sort it out..."
The blond exe-producer smiled and leant back into his plush chair,
a small smile playing across his lips.
"It's going to be a harsh test you know, do you think Shindou-kun will
be able to pull through this? Will -you- be able to pull through this,
Eiri-san?"
"...I have faith in him..."
"Sou desu...and yourself...?"
Yuki grunted and pushed his cigarette sharply into the ash tray, not
gracing the question from his friend with an answer.
---
It was amazing to see Shuuichi Shindou bouncing around all over the
practice hall at nine in the morning without being given at least four
cups of coffee first to wake up.
Hiro on the other hand wasn't quite so awake, Shuuichi's cries of-
"Hiro! Hiro! HIRO! HIROOOOOOOOO!!!" were still fresh in his mind and
ringing in his ears like a very bad hangover.
Suguru, as ever, seemed ready to work if mildly annoyed by Shuuichi's
continued happiness.
"YOSH! LET'S GO!", cried Shuuichi, grabbing the mic in his hand and
grinning at Hiro who waved a hand and nodded before yawning to himself.
Suguru raised and eyebrow
"But I haven't seen what you've written yet...", he muttered, walking
over to Hiro who looked like he was about to fall over.
Shuuichi grumbled a little, tapping his foot impatiently.
"O-haiyo minna na no da!!", came an echoing, happy greeting from the
doorway.
Shuuichi beamed, at least while Hiro was waking up and Suguru was
working out the music he could have some fun with Ryuuichi.
He waved happily to the Nittle Grasper vocalist who grinned back and
made Kumagoro give a little wave too.
Shuuichi paused however as he caught sight of Touma behind the smiling
Ryuuichi, Yuki close behind him also.
The Band Luck singer couldn't help but think Touma could be very scary
now and then.
"OooOoooOOO! Shuuichi! Are you practicing your new song?!", cried
Ryuuichi, bouncing over and almost knocking Shuuichi over with another
greeting, this time in the form of a glomp.
"A...a...ah...hai, we are S-Sakuma-san", chuckled Shuuichi somewhat
nervously, trying to pry the other singing from his arm.
Ryuuichi suddenly let go, causing Shuuichi to crash on the floor
beside him as he balled his hands up cutely near his face.
"Ne...Shuuichi...I want to hear!", whimpered Ryuuichi, sitting down
sharply in the center of the floor and looking very wide eyed.
"A...anou...", Shuuichi began before stared down at him a moment,
watching as the Nittle Grasper singer's eyes began to fill with masses
of tears.
"Onegai! Onegai Shuuichi~iii!", Ryuuichi wailed, gripping tightly to
Komagoro's ears.
Touma shot Shuuichi a sharp look and nodded quickly, it was best to
just let Ryuuichi have his way for now otherwise he would never stop
crying.
Shuuichi nodded quickly, patting Ryuuichi's head a few times.
"H-hai! Of course you can stay and watch Sakuma-san, it'd be an
honor", babbled Shuuichi quickly but happily, preparing himself to be
pounced on as Ryuuichi's face beamed.
---
After a few hours of basic practice and almost constant applause from
Ryuuichi, Bad Luck was finally ready to practice the song the whole
way through.
Shuuichi stepped to the front of the room and leveled his eyes with
Yuki firmly as the music swelled up around him, slow to begin with,
light tempo before breaking into a sharp, well written beat.
Admittedly, and expectedly, Shuuichi hadn't learnt all the words yet
and so stood up to the stand with the lyric sheets on to hit the
vocals.
He stopped however and stared in horror to find the words to be gone,
and the music stand bare.
The music died down slowly, the small crowd consisting of Ryuuichi,
Yuki, Touma and Sakano silent until the pink plush toy wheedling singer
stood up and blinked cutely in confusion.
"Mou...Shuuichi...?", he began, tilting his head to the side a little
and letting his light, chestnut bangs drift in the same direction
"That's not the end of the song...is it...?"
Shuuichi didn't reply, he was too busy darting around desperately
trying to find the sheets of paper.
To the side Yuki grunted a little, pushing himself off the wall of the
practice hall and giving Shuuichi a firm stare.
The singer froze, bringing his eyes up slowly to meet the cold stare of
his lover before he watched Yuki turn and walk out the room.
Shuuichi couldn't hear the calls around him as he slipped to his knees,
staring after Yuki as he walked and only hearing the writer's shoes
click with each step.
Ryuuichi rested a soft look on Shuuichi while Sakano span around
frantically trying to sort things out.
Quietly he padded over to Shuuichi and rested a hand on his friend's
shoulder without a word, for once not acting like a playful child and
frowning with regret as Shuuichi's eyes filled with real tears of
sorrow and distress.
Once outside the music hall Yuki paused and lit his cigarette, a free
hand fumbling in his pocket before drawing out a few sheets of
carefully folded paper.
He ran his eyes over the written lyrics before slipping them back into
his pocket and walking down the street.
"...gomen nasai...Shuuichi..."
It was mid-day.
Nine hours to go.
