Alyssa could tell that Joe did not realize that she could not walk and she felt sorry for him. His expressions reminded her so much of Adam and she could not stand to see a face like that unhappy. Since she couldn't kick him under the table, she reached down and pushed her leg towards his direction. Alyssa was not sure if she made contact until she saw Joe look up at her.

"You're fine, don't worry about it," She mouthed to him with a broad smile. Adam looked over and spotted her stunt. He just shook his head and smiled himself. It wasn't Joe's fault and even though he didn't know him well, Adam figured that Joe would never mean to insult Alyssa.

"Well, I for one am happy to be here. It has been a long time Carl," Fenton remarked as he passed the spaghetti to his oldest son.

"I am happy you are all here," Carl replied back. "I also think this is a great opportunity for the boys as well." Alyssa cleared her throat and looked at Carl with a side-glance. "And a good opportunity for the ladies as well," Carl finished, laughing as he noticed his wife was in the same stance as Alyssa.

"Do you help out the boys here Alyssa?" Fenton asked, taking a spoonful of spaghetti.

"When I can I do. Someone has to help Jason keep this one in line," Alyssa said, shooting a glance towards Adam.

"ME! Keep ME in line?" Adam said with an innocent voice. "What have I done?"

"We really don't have time to list all of the offenses little brother," Jason quipped. Adam scowled at him. He hated being called "little brother", especially in front of company and Jason knew that. Joe heard the little line and cringed himself. He could tell that Adam did not like it just as much as he did not like it when Frank did it to him. But it seemed like that was all Frank called him at times. But then there was the most dreaded phrase of all --- "baby brother". Joe could handle a lot of things, but "baby brother" was the absolute worst. He wondered if Adam was subjected to that horror.

"You was the last one to be stopped doing anything my dear big brother," Adam shot back, recalling the time Jason was pulled over for drag racing in their last case. Drag racing was something that Adam participated in all the time, but was only caught once. Jason spoke out against this senseless behavior, but was the last one caught for it. Both boys faced their parents on the couch, something Jason was not accustomed to like his younger brother. Jason's face turned beet red. Frank could tell that Adam had hit a nerve. It made him think about how lucky he really was since Joe was not as active as Adam seemed to be. This Jason sure has his hands full! Thank God Joe is not that wild! I sure hope Joe does not learn any pointers from Adam while we are here.

"So do you have a lady friend Jason who helps on your cases?" Fenton asked, wanting to get back to the subject.

Jason smiled and said, "Yes, Kara. I have been going with her for almost four years now. She sometimes helps out with our cases. She does a lot of volunteer work and such at the hospital and nursing home."

"Four very long years," Adam added and took a bite of spaghetti.

"He sounds like Frank. He has been with Callie Shaw forever and she is always sticking her nose into our cases," Joe piped up. Frank looked over at Joe. It seemed like Joe and Adam had another in common, their displeasure with their older brothers' choices in girlfriends.

"And I seem to remember that she has saved our rear ends a few time too, including YOURS," Frank pointed out, taking a dinner roll.

Fenton laughed at his boys. "Yes, it is true. Callie is quite the investigator. I guess it comes naturally since she wants to be a reporter."

"Kara wants to be a nurse so that might help out some family situations," Carl added with a grin. Adam just rolled his eyes and finished up his roll.

"What about you Joe?" Alyssa asked.

"Me? What about me?" Joe asked with a mouthful of spaghetti. Realizing that he was eating at an actual dinner table, he was immediately embarrassed and chewed the rest of his food. Everyone chuckled and waited for Alyssa's response.

"Do you have a girlfriend?" Alyssa asked again.

"Oh yes! Iola," Joe answered and took a bite of his salad.

Alyssa and Adam both sat there looking at him. Joe was too busy eating that he didn't think that they might want to hear more about Iola.

"Well... what is she like? She must be special to you," Alyssa added, propping her head on her hands.

"She is a spunky farm girl. No one you would want to mess with, well except for me. I can do just about anything I want," Joe commented. He held up his pinky finger. "I have her wrapped around my little finger."

"HA!" Frank shouted out. "She has YOU wrapped around her fingers. All TEN of them to be exact. Don't let Casanova fool you here. He is as whipped as a puppy dog."

Joe scowled at his brother, but continued on. "She helps us with our cases off and on and she is just a loyal and honest girl. She looks a lot like you Alisha."

"Alyssa," Adam corrected him. Joe turned red again and nodded. It was then that the phone rang and Adam jumped up to answer it in the kitchen. It was Chuck.

"Hey! You will never guess what I got!" Chuck's voice boomed without even a second.

"What?"

"You will have to come over and see. You will never guess in a million years. I have always wanted one and mom and dad would never get me one. Well I did a few chores for Lady Bossman and she gave it to me as a fair trade!"

"We have company this weekend you know."

"Oh that is right! I forgot... hey! Why don't you just bring them with you! I would love to meet them myself," Chuck boomed in again.

"I will see if they are interested," Adam said as he covered the phone and walked into the dining room area. "Chuck wants to invite us out to his farm, is that all right with you guys?"

"Sounds good to me," Frank answered. Joe nodded in agreement.

"As long as you are careful and no stupid stunts. These boys are our guests you know," Laura pointed out. She knew Chuck and Adam well enough to know that when the two were put together, anything could happen. Adam frowned back at her and went back into the kitchen.

"Who is Chuck?" Joe asked, after seeing Adam disappear back into the kitchen.

"Adam's best friend since I can remember. He lives out on a farm about ten miles from here. Those two together spell trouble," Jason said in a low voice. "But you couldn't ask for a better friend than Chuck. He has helped us so many times, we owe him everything."

"Including our lives," Alyssa added, thinking back to the night of the accident. Chuck was the one who called out on Adam's cell phone to get help. That precious time saved both Adam and Alyssa's lives.

"It is too back Craig is out of town. I know you guys would have enjoyed meeting him as well," Jason said. "He is my best friend and boy can he work magic with computers."

"Oh boy," Joe mumbled. He heard the magic word.

"What did I miss?" Adam said, sitting back down and noticing Joe's expression.

"Your brother said the magic word for Frank...computers," Joe said, rolling his eyes. Adam nodded in agreement. "Frank and our buddy Phil Cohen, they could be locked in a room with a computer for hours and be totally happy."

"Hey, computers are the wave of the future. They are a great tool in investigating as well," Frank pointed out. Then he looked over at Jason. "I assume you have a computer?"

"Yes. It is a small one though, but it does the job," Jason said. "Probably nothing compared to what you have. Craig is the one with the super computer."

"I would still like to see it later," Frank commented.

"Okay, I would love to hear about yours as well," Jason remarked with a smile. This visit was going to be great! While Jason and Frank starting talking "computer-eez" as Adam referred to it. Joe, Adam and Alyssa talked about school and their dislike for computers.

After dinner it was decided that Adam, Joe and Alyssa would go ahead to Chuck's house in the Trans Am while Frank and Jason would follow later in the van. The two older boys wanted to check out Jason's computer and their e-mail.

All the way out, Joe remarked about Adam's beloved Trans Am. Joe also told Adam about their "super van" back in Bayport. Adam could not get over a van being bullet proof and having all of the technology that it had. Those Hardys must be rich!

"So what do you guys do for fun around here on a Friday and Saturday night?" Joe asked, watching the countryside float by. It was late in the afternoon, but the sun was still shining and lighting up the beautiful pines and cornfields. Joe was really amazed to see the irrigation ditches used to supply water to the crops.

"Well, we either go down to the pier for something to eat or shoot pool, surf, hang out at the beach or at each other's barns, race around, go down by Orchard Lake, just several things I guess," Adam answered.

Joe could not believe it. There was NOTHING to do here! But he was not going to say that to Adam.

"We go to the mall, hang out at Tony's Pizza, go to the movies and we also have our secret hangouts for privacy as well," Joe replied. Adam and Alyssa laughed.

"No malls or movie theaters here. The nearest mall is about an hour and a half and the nearest movie theater is over in Creola, about 30 miles from here. But we do go there when there is a movie we really want to see," Alyssa pointed out.

It was then that a large white farmhouse with a swing on the front porch came into view. Adam turned into the dirt driveway and drove up to the house. From behind the house, a large chunky boy came walking out into the open.

This boy reminds me of Chet! This is so weird! The only difference is that this boy has a lighter color of brown hair and more freckles!

"Chuck! I would like for you to meet Joe Hardy," Adam called out as he opened up the hatch of the Trans Am and got Alyssa's wheelchair out. Joe had got out through the driver side and went to the other side to open the door for Alyssa. Chuck came up and shook hands with him and led him away from the car while Adam helped Alyssa.

"Aren't there supposed to be two of you?" Chuck said with a heavy accent.

"Yes, my brother Frank will be here soon with Jason," Joe answered. "Nice place you have here."

It was then that Chuck stopped and really took a look at Joe.

"My good Lord! You look like Adam's twin! Hey Adam! Are you sure that you don't have an extra brother somewhere?" Chuck yelled. Then he looked at Joe again. "When is your birthday? How old are you?"

"Sorry Chuck. I know we are not twins. I was born in April 17 years ago in New York," Joe answered.

"No, you are right. Adam was born in California in July," Chuck thought back. "Just amazing though."

By then Adam had wheeled Alyssa up to the boys and Chuck led them to the back yard. There standing in all its glory was a fourteen foot round trampoline. Adam burst out laughing followed by Alyssa.

Chuck grimaced at his friends' reaction. "Hey, I have always wanted a trampoline. My parents would never get me one, but now I have one. Lady Bossman said she wanted to get rid of it since her grandkids were older now and it is only two years old!" Chuck commented.

"So you took this as your payment for straightening up her barn?" Adam asked.

"Yep! That and a few odds and ends things, but this is the one."

"What did your mom and dad say about it?" Alyssa asked.

"They said that I was old enough to kill myself," Chuck laughed. "They also made me promise to be careful with it. I mean, do I look like I am nine years old anymore? I have a car now, I think I can handle a trampoline. Besides, might help me get into shape."

"I just hope you don't go through it one of these days," Adam quipped back.

"Hey, hey, hey now. It says on the weight thing that FOUR adults can get on it, but that is not recommended."

"Well, what is recommended?" Alyssa asked.

"The warning things says one at a time," Chuck said, holding out the tag that was still attached to the trampoline. "But that would be no fun."

"So what do you think? Want to try it out?" Chuck asked the group of teenagers.

"I have always wanted to get on one of those things," Alyssa sighed. "I saw them on the Olympics or something like that once, but no one I ever knew owned one."

"Well, I don't see why you can't try it out," Adam said, getting ready to scoop up Alyssa into his arms

'Oh no! You can't get up on that. What if you hit your head!" Alyssa said, stopping him in his tracks. "You are not going to jump on that."

"Alyssa! You sound like Jason," Adam quipped with disappointment. He also did not want to let on that anything was wrong with him at all while the Hardy Brothers was staying with them. He gave Alyssa a long look.

"I know, why don't we put her in the middle and we can stand on the sides and catapult her up in the air from the middle," Joe suggested. "That way she could finally see what it is like."

Adam looked at Chuck. Chuck looked at Joe. Then all three boys had huge grins on their faces. Adam scooped up Alyssa and put her on the trampoline. Not too happy with the idea, Alyssa still got in the middle like Joe suggested for her to do. Then Chuck and Joe ever so slightly jumped along the side of the trampoline, causing Alyssa to slowly be bounced into the air.

Adam would never forget what Joe Hardy did for his beloved Alyssa that day. Her eyes twinkled once again and her hair flew into the air. One time she was almost standing straight up and down. Alyssa was having a ball! After about fifteen minutes, Alyssa was out of breath and asked to be put back in her wheelchair.

"So how was your first trampoline lesson?" Adam asked, sitting her back into the chair.

"It made me feel like I was normal again," She said with a tear in her eye.

"Hey Adam, get up here!" Chuck yelled out. Adam could no longer resist. Jason was nowhere around and Alyssa too tired to argue. He jumped up on the trampoline with his jolly friend. Joe was taking a breather by Alyssa.

Chuck and Adam took turns catapulting each other higher and higher into the air. Since Chuck was a lot heavier than Adam, he was able to really put Adam way up into the air. Enough that Adam could probably do two flips, but Adam just concentrated on keeping his balance. They would do tricks another day. It felt good to just fly through the air, even if he was seventeen years old.

"Now I am really going to get you up there!" Chuck said as he set in for a real good jump. The timing was perfect! Adam shot farther up into the air than he had ever. He loved the free feeling that overcame him when we realized how high he was. He could feel air moving around him. Then gravity slowed him down and started to bring him back home. It was then when his thoughts and concentration was interrupted by a loud angry voice.

"ADAM KRAMER! WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING UP THERE!"

The voice caused him to lose his sense of placement in the air. Adam felt his body take a turn, but he could not tell which way was up or down. Adam then felt the landing. He landed on the trampoline, but he landed almost face first. With a thud, Adam's head ricocheted off of the trampoline's surface and bounced him back into the air with another hit to his side.

CRACK!

It was then that Adam felt a piercing jab in his left hip and leg. When he was through being bounced around like a rag doll, the younger Kramer boy was huddled in the middle of the trampoline writhing in pain.
